These tools can be used as diagnostic, formative or summative assessments.
K-W-L What the student knows, what the student wants to know and what the student has learnt.
K-W-H-L As above but added how - how will the student learn this.
3-2-1 Exit interview - things that students have learnt today, what they found interesting and what they still want to know.
Muddiest Point - last 3 minutes of a lesson is a reflection by students - anonymously on paper - about what was the hardest part of the lesson, or what was the main point of the lesson.
P-M-I - developed by Edward De Bono - Plus Minus Interesting - students complete this at the end of a topic that will direct learning and teaching. _
Learning triangles - a graphical organiser that helps students reflect on their learning through noting down their feelings and emotions of an event. Great follow up for excursions or incursions.
Count me in - a professional development program targetting maths teaching in schools. Includes SENA testing (schedule for early number assessment), individual interviews to
2 Stars and a wish - peer or team review where there are 2 strengths and one opportunity for improvement. I change I would suggest is to have the structure changed to become a feedback sandwhich in which the positives sandwhich the negative.
