3.1.1 Demonstrate the capacity to identify and articulate clear and appropriate learning goals in lesson preparation
Science Water Works program outcomes and assessments were identified prior lesson planning. Learning outcomes included in notebook slides and reflection on learning as assessments.
Students gained much from this unit as it contained regular revision and reflection of concepts learnt.
For example:
Each session was focused on learning outcomes and resulted in students gaining an in-depth understanding of the water cycle.

Student work - Assessment on water use at home.
Class activity - water use at home - column graphing.
Students gained much from this unit as it contained regular revision and reflection of concepts learnt.
For example:
- Students were asked to investigate water use at home (see water use at home worksheet below).
- Students returned these for the next session, discussing what they had found.
- Student then created a column graph (we had been learning tallying and graphing in maths) on the back wall under categories (see below Class activity) (BLOOMS - applying).
- Students were then asked to discuss what they see from the graph (BLOOMS - analysing)
- Students then pasted in a photo of the graph into their HSIE books and completed the assessment worksheet (see below student work - assessment) (BLOOMS - applying, analysing and evaluating).
Each session was focused on learning outcomes and resulted in students gaining an in-depth understanding of the water cycle.
