Whilst working as a community volunteer, I have demonstrated my abilities to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in any project, working within strict guidelines, responsibilities and rights.
Also, during my final practical, parental involvement in regular literacy group activities was welcomed.
I was also involved with the lunchtime gardening club at my practical school. working with teachers from other grades and areas.
The involvement of parents in their child's education is important to introduce continuity of skills learnt at school into the home. During Science - Water Works unit, students were asked to gather data with their parents about water use at home. Parental involvement in this task was evident in the number and speed of responses.
Regulations and statutes related to teachers responsibility can be found on the Department of Education and communities web site (http://www.dec.nsw.gov.au/) under policies.
Policies range from access and equity, computers and internet, curriculum and schoolwork and more. They are updated occasionally, therefore, knowing their location is more important than the content.
One such policy and procedure is the Guidelines for the use of strategies to support gifted and talented students . This details how any student that is identified as being gifted or talented has a right to specific and planned support for their abilities.

The many people I have met through these affiliations have become my friends and have made me whom I am today. They say a picture tells a thousand words.....here are just a few to demonstrate community involvement.
