Accurate records
3.1.8 Demonstrate knowledge and a rationale for keeping accurate and reliable records to monitor students’ progress.
Accurate and reliable records
Although there is no legislative requirement (Brady & Kennedy, 2011), to keep records of assessment in Australia, accurate and reliable records are required to:
►have transparency
►help teachers make judgements (other teachers in school included)
►collection of statistical data - particularly for norm referenced assessment
►assist with reflection on practice
►have accountability
►be able to compare and map progress of students
►test and validate assessment strategies.

Reflection/Improvement: I certainly need alot more practice and guidence on this. During prac I was able to experience strategies in record keeping. I understand that there are formal electronic records on all students, and I don't envisage I would have issues with its use, but, its the day-to-day recording of informal assessment that I would have great deal of trouble in developing my own system. As a nurse, day to day records are mandatory and it could be that I borrow elements from nursing in this respect. For example a folder on each student, containing lists and checklists of required evidence and work samples of achieving learning outcomes.
